On the way to the railway station, on the bank of this small lake located in Hansnapur village, opposite the Janmasthan, Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj once came to play with His childhood companions.
On the bank of this lake, a sadhu named Haridas lived in a small hut where he would regularly read and recite the Ram Katha. Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj listened to the story of the Ramayana being recited there.
Afterwards, at the request of His childhood companions, Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj played the flute in a melodious tone, attracting the cows that were grazing nearby.
Seeing the large gathering of cows, Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj climbed an Imli (tamarind) tree along with His childhood companions. While climbing down from the tree, one of its branches struck Him on His right thigh.
As a result, Shri Ghanshyam became unconscious. At that time, the celestial deities, including Indra, along with the Ashwini Kumaras, came and bandaged Shri Hari’s thigh. After having His divine darshan, they departed.
When Suvasiniba later opened the bandage to see what had injured Him, she saw a healed mark on His thigh where the branch had struck Him.
Since Shri Ghanshyam was injured on His thigh by a branch of the tamarind tree on the bank of this lake, the lake came to be known as “Khanpa Talavadi.”
